Christ is the Fulfillment of O.T. Promises

The New Testament never leads us to expect that there will be any fulfillment of the Old Testament promises other than their fulfillment in Christ. We are not encouraged, for example, to look for their fulfillment in the state of Israel and to expect a new temple to be built there. That is to expect a renewal of the model that has now been dismantled. The permanent reality is found in Christ.

Who'll Stop Iran?

I just finished reading this article from Investor's Business Daily which describes the peril that Israel finds herself in. This is serious business. Iran is behind the attacks which Israel is enduring right now, but of course, we already knew Iran was up to it's eyeballs in exporting terror.

I hope the inexperienced president-elect knows it. And knows who to ask about what to do.

The missiles Hamas is firing may be able to reach Israel's nuclear facilities. Soon, ALL of Israel may be in reach of Hamas' weapons. One has to believe that this is why Israel's response has been swift and relentless. It is getting serious.

Hezbollah, to the north, is also an Iranian proxy and so Israel finds herself pinched between two factions bent on her destruction who are armed, supported and encouraged by Iran. For now, Israel can and will defend herself against these thugs on the border.

But who will stop Iran?

111. Sunday Afternoon

Here comes McCain-Palin. Polls out today show McCain-Palin leading Obama-Biden by 3 or 4 points depending on the poll, one shows it essentially even. More good news - the data does not include results from the entirety of the RNC.

McCain is the real deal, a man of accomplishment and courage. Obama is a pretender, a man of two memoirs at age 47 and adept at reading a telepromter. John McCain is a classic, old book you love to read over and over. Obama is a Blackberry with your favorite chapter from the story. The Blackberry you carry in your briefcase. The book is carried in your heart.

It's not going to be close.

Incidentally, Democrats, I don't think you'll be too pleased with what happens to your Congress this fall, either. Just sayin'.

Enough politics for today.

I'm reading Ezekiel right now and I am really struck by the language God uses to describe Israel. He says they've been an unfaithful wife and have gone whoring. God says they learned all this in Egypt.

When they got to the promised land, they took up with the Assyrians and the Chaldeans (Babylonians). Israel, north and south, lusted after the gods of these lands and worshipped them, despising the one true God whose mighty acts on their behalf they saw.

And God judges them and look who the instruments of His wrath are. The Assyrians and the Babylonians. Yes, the ones Samaria and Judah desired, betrayed God for, became their conquerors. What a striking image!

Friends, let's always watch our hearts and never esteem any thing or any one above God our Treasure.

Yes We Can. But We Better Not, Part 2

This article illustrates another reason I think Obama is a risky choice for President that we cannot afford.

The middle east is volatile. It is populated by governments and regimes which regard the interests and/or people of the United States with apathy (at best), violent opposition (at worst), or something in between. In the midst of this caldron America's one reliable, Mid-East ally rests uneasily. Israel. A democracy.

And Barak Obama doesn't appear to like them very much. And if that's true, then he is wrong. You have to stand with your allies, particularly democracies and especially when much of the rest of the world will not stand with you.

America needs a free, democratic, strong Israel in the Middle East and if you cannot see that you are unfit for the Office of President of the United States.
